Requirements

  • Previous experience with or ability to learn effective landscaping maintenance skills and techniques.
  • A minimum of 1-3 years of landscape maintenance/horticulture experience is required.
  • Category 3.0 Turf and Landscape Certification or the ability to gain certification within 45 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous foreman or crew leader experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with landscape tools and equipment (pruners, string trimmers, shears, backpack blower, backpack sprayer) is preferred.
  • Knowledge of flowers, trees, shrubs, and other landscape products is helpful but not required.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Enhance plant health through expert pruning and selective weed management.
  • Maintain the visual quality of commercial and high-end multifamily landscapes.
  • Direct, organize, and oversee landscape maintenance tasks to ensure quality and timely completion of work on customer sites.
  • Drive company vehicle to transport crew from The Bruce Company to assigned job sites.
  • Provide ongoing training to Crew Members.
  • Identify and appropriately address issues at the work sites.
  • Perform landscape care including planting and maintaining flowers, watering plants; providing flower care; pruning; shearing shrubs; weeding; applying selective low volume weed control; raking and disposing of leaves; perennial care and picking up debris.
  • Load and secure all tools, equipment, and materials needed for the job.
  • Emphasize the importance of exceptional customer service to coworkers and ensure a quality company image that encourages repeat business.
  • Communicate effectively with other coworkers to function as a team.
  • Lead by example and guide Crew Members regarding company policies and procedures, including attendance, conduct, and dress code.
  • Assist with snow removal during the winter months as business needs dictate.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor and/or manager.
