About The Position

Responsible for the day-to-day work of the crew, including schedules, job assignments, plants and materials, equipment and power tools, cost effectiveness, work quality, training, and safety. Ensures assignments are implemented and completed, sets an example for crew members, and oversees safe loading and driving of vehicle. This role requires a hands-on approach, working alongside the crew, and involves supervising assigned laborers to ensure compliance with work orders, company policies, regulations, and assignments. The Crew Leader is responsible for ensuring the crew is ready for daily assignments, including preparation of the truck, trailer, equipment, tools, and materials, and for the safe, legal, and proper operation of vehicles. A positive and proactive work style is essential, along with motivating the crew as a team and building company morale. The role involves completing assigned tasks and daily work orders, ensuring work meets or exceeds company standards, and using good judgment to correct problems. Continuous development through classes and seminars is encouraged.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years' prior work in the industry.
  • Clean driving record required.
  • Supervisory/leadership experience required.
  • Must be hands-on and work alongside the crew.
  • Ability to communicate in English.

  • Strong preference for candidates with landscaping experience.
  • Bilingual candidates encouraged.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise assigned laborers and ensure compliance with work orders, company policies, regulations, and assignments.
  • Ensure crew readiness for each daily assignment, including crew preparation, truck, trailer, motorized equipment operation, power and hand tools, and job materials; arrive ready and prepared to leave the shop promptly at the assigned time.
  • Ensure safe, legal, and proper loading, unloading, and driving of trucks.
  • Cultivate and maintain a positive, proactive work style; motivate and work with crewmembers as a team and build company-wide morale.
  • Complete all assigned tasks and daily work orders as directed; work with crew to ensure timely, safe, and cost-effective completion of assignments.
  • Ensure work meets or exceeds company standards and complies with policies and procedures.
  • Use good judgment and take initiative to correct problems that may occur.
  • Attend classes and seminars to develop leadership and technical skills and training.
  • Follow daily work orders from the Division Manager or Supervisor and confirm understanding of all assignments.
  • Secure, organize, and safely transport all equipment, tools, and materials required for each job.
  • Work with laborers to load and off-load equipment, tools, and materials from vehicles; ensure safe off-loading, staging, use, and storage at client properties and company yard.
  • Understand and operate all equipment and tools safely and per manufacturers' instructions; wear required personal protective clothing and equipment in accordance with company and OSHA standards.
  • Report work progress, problems, and needs to the appropriate supervisor throughout the day.
  • Report safety hazards, personnel problems, and vehicle/equipment/tool maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate supervisor in a timely fashion.
  • Interact with clients regularly as requested and respond to all communications from management promptly.
  • Ensure each jobsite is left clean when the crew departs.
