About The Position

The Landscape and Grounds Supervisor at Whitewater is responsible for leading and working alongside a team of Landscape Technicians to provide quality landscape maintenance services to Whitewater and its’ guests. This role finds success through demonstrating a high level of attention to detail, while remaining diligent in continuous area and process improvement. The supervisor will ensure all staff are in compliance with company standards, to include attire, safety, quality, and operations. This role is an on-site, full-time, benefits eligible role who reports to the Facilities Assistant Manager.

Requirements

  • 5+ years managerial experience in commercial grounds and landscape maintenance, or equivalent field.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency working with a variety of trade tools – shovels, picks, rakes, axes, various types of saws (e.g., pole, hand), loppers, riding mowers, trimmers, leaf blowers etc.
  • Proficiency operating and training on fuel powered machinery (chainsaws, walk behind, skid steer, riding mowers, blowers, trimmers etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret documents with strong attention to detail – e.g., safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and other manuals.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and during Whitewater events as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional experience in a specialized trade, e.g., turf management, commercial landscape installation, grading/excavation, irrigation, pest management, storm water management etc.
  • Pesticide Applicator License
  • Storm Water Management and Inspection Certification

Responsibilities

  • Motivate, develop and lead a team of 4-8 Landscape Technicians.
  • Comply with all department and company policies including work quality standards, safety standards, and operations standards.
  • Support the hiring process and on-boarding of new employees.
  • Train crew members on a continuous basis.
  • Maintain and improve the Whitewater grounds by maintaining the appearance of hardscapes such as: roads, curbs, gutters, parking lots, walkways, stairs, fences, retaining walls and stormwater structures.
  • Maintain and improve softscapes such as: turf and ornamental plants, gardens, landscape beds, natural areas, and water retention areas.
  • Utilize the Facilities Department work order tracking system, MaintainX, to help manage, create, and prioritize assigned tasks to meet delegated deadlines.
  • Actively track all work being completed, both reactionary and routine, in MaintainX to ensure adequate record keeping is taking place.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in estimating and purchasing for materials and equipment.
  • Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail in maintaining neat and orderly department equipment and tool storage area, as well as a professional appearance of assigned vehicles and equipment.
  • Manage assigned assets and ensure routine maintenance is being completed and logged according to manufacturer recommendations and usage.
  • Oversee storm water management program through routine inspections and proper maintenance that aligns with company and county guidelines.
  • Manage the pesticide application program to ensure the safe use and storage of all chemicals and granules to remain in compliance with company and county policies.
  • Maintain accurate records for self-performed inspections, inventories and logs.
  • Assist other departments, facility crews and contractors with maintenance and projects on-site.
  • Other duties as assigned.
