FWS - Landowner and Farmer Outreach Organizer

Post University•Waterbury, CT
•$0 - $20•Remote

About The Position

This Federal Work-Study community-service position supports Hosanna High Natural Burial Project (Let's Be Trees), a 501(c)(3), in locating land that could become a community-owned natural burial ground. The goal is to help keep funerals affordable. The position is remote and pays $20 per hour. The organizer researches and contacts farmers, rural landowners, estate holders, and land-rich families who may consider donating acreage, a conservation-minded parcel, or a life-estate gift to a nonprofit community cemetery. Using approved talking points, the organizer explains the public benefit: a $100 membership community cemetery if land can be secured in that area. The role does not include negotiating legal terms, appraising land, or promising tax outcomes. The organizer maintains a shared land-lead log, hands warm leads to the supervisor in the same week, attends a weekly virtual check-in, and submits hours with a short activity note. Other assigned community-service tasks must be consistent with land-for-cemetery outreach. Students gain experience related to their program of study.
