About The Position

Formentera Operations, LLC is seeking an experienced Landman. The Landman will be responsible for acquisition and maintenance of properties as well as negotiations, maintenance, and interpretation of various agreements leases, and contracts while ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Strong communication, analytical skills, and industry knowledge are essential for success in this role. This role requires a self-starter with an ability to leverage resources to self-solve problems in a fast-paced work environment.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with land-related documents, including oil and gas leases, title documents, joint operating agreements, and trade agreements.
  • Strong negotiation abilities for dealing with landowners, joint venture partners, and potential collaborators.
  • Familiarity with the life cycle of oil and gas wells.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication, both written and digital for internal and external parties.
  • Prior experience working with landowners, joint venture partners, and government agencies.
  • Ability to multi-task, apply attention to detail and oversee projects requiring direct supervision.
  • Self-starter capable of working with minimal supervision.
  • Experience working with Enverus online applications and RRC website.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Windows suite applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year university, with a degree from an accredited AAPL program preferred.
  • AAPL membership; RPL or CPL certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive in-house land experience in the oil and gas industry.
  • Ability to travel when required (less than 10%).

Responsibilities

  • Review, edit, and negotiate various land-related documents, including oil and gas leases, amendments, assignments, joint operating agreements, trade agreements, farmout agreements, pooling agreements, right-of-way agreements, and title curative instruments.
  • Clearly communicate contractual terms and ownership positions to internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment and compliance with land-related obligations throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Compile and organize in-house title information to support clear assessment of ownership.
  • Identify and resolve title issues to ensure clean and marketable records.
  • Oversee brokers and contract landmen to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with accounting to manage the land budget for the asset, ensuring accurate tracking, coding and booking of land-related expenses in alignment with internal financial controls.
  • May perform A&D duties as necessary - including due diligence, integration and data migration.
  • Leverage technology to streamline land workflows, improve data accuracy, and enhance the quality and efficiency of work product output.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Maintain adherence to all company policies and procedures.
