As Landfill Operator, you will be responsible for supporting all day-to-day operations at the landfill, including scale operation, heavy equipment operation, the truck ticketing system, landfill and building maintenance, and sampling. You will be in regular contact with customers and play an important role in delivering excellent customer service while maintaining strong communication. As this is a safety-sensitive role and due to the nature of the working environment, you will be required to be mentally and physically fit to safely perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. This position is based out of Williston, ND. The 13-Mile Landfill is a newly reopened facility, offering an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing operation. This role will contribute to a strong safety culture, deliver exceptional customer service, and support efficient day-to-day operations.

Requirements

  • A High School Diploma, General Education Diploma, or equivalent
  • Valid completion of pre-employment testing
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience with equipment and computer systems
  • Valid and current safety tickets, including H2S Alive, First Aid Level One C, WHMIS, and TDG
  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills, with the ability to work long hours in a mentally and physically demanding work environment
  • Proven ability to work well with minimal supervision
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with customers and team members
  • Ability to work well as part of a team, with strong communication skills and a willingness to support others
  • Strong commitment to safety, with the ability to stay aware of surroundings and identify potential hazards

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating heavy equipment such as dozers, loaders, or skid steers would be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate heavy equipment, pumps, and other site equipment while supporting scale operations and maintenance
  • Perform landfill, building, and site maintenance to support safe and efficient daily operations
  • Gather random samples and complete required testing and analysis
  • Perform general labour duties and provide support across the site as required
  • Ensure equipment is operated safely and properly in accordance with site procedures
  • Administer scale operations, including accurate data entry and record keeping
  • Conduct routine equipment inspections and ongoing maintenance to ensure equipment remains in safe working condition
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment throughout the site
  • Support ongoing landfill and building maintenance as required
