About The Position

Waste Connections, Inc. is looking for a skilled and motivated Landfill Gas Technician to join their high-performing team in St. Cloud, FL at the JED Landfill. This role ensures landfill gas and H2S scrubber systems remain in compliance with all Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations. The technician will perform routine system inspections and repairs, operate a Human Machine Interface (HMI) on a landfill gas treatment plant control system, and work with the Region Engineer and Landfill Manager to ensure compliance. The position also involves maintaining relationships with landfill employees, consultants, vendors, and customers, assisting in landfill environmental reviews and audits, and using gas analyzers and instruments to monitor gas and H2S. Maintenance on pneumatic, electrical, and other types of pumps and switches will also be required.

Requirements

Ability to follow established procedures with minimal amount of direct supervision.
Work outdoors for most of the day.
Be willing to perform a variety of tasks on any given day.
Ability to handle objects up to 50 lbs.
Experience operating hand, power tools, forklift (telehandler), and man-lift.
Provide on-call response to the system.
Maintain a good attitude and a hard work ethic.
Must be mechanically proficient in a variety of systems and field instruments.
Ability to collect data, interpret data and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to prepare reports at the state or local levels.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
