About The Position

The Tampa Office of Stearns Weaver Miller seeks a Land Use Project Coordinator to work within our Land Development Department. Stearns Weaver Miller represents developers and investors in all areas of land development, with projects including commercial (offices, shopping centers, hotels), industrial facilities, mixed-use, and residential development. The firm has been named one of Florida’s premier law firms. We recognize that the skills needed for this role are gained in many industries. Candidates with experience supporting land development, commercial real estate, engineering, planning, permitting, or local government who have a strong project coordination background, document management experience, and a general understanding of land use are welcome to apply. Paralegals with relevant industry experience are also encouraged to apply.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in land use, real estate development, legal or related field
  • Monitor project timelines and communicate status updates to development team
  • Some knowledge of basic land development processes and administrative procedures
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Ability to read and interpret basic plans and permit applications with accuracy; complete forms and related documents
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; use proper grammar to compose, edit, and correct draft correspondences; excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Adobe, and PowerPoint required
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with state or local government agencies is beneficial

Responsibilities

  • Perform due diligence research including analyzing land use entitlements
  • Prepare and process applications (e.g. comprehensive plan amendments, rezonings, special exceptions, variances, etc.) and related documents
  • Maintain critical dates for all applications, due diligence efforts, and related project deliverables
  • Order and review title documents, title search reports, and property inspections
  • Serve as a point of contact between internal teams, consultants, experts, vendors, and government agencies
  • Analysis of plat maps, property records, zoning codes, surveys, and easements
  • Responsible for the placement and removal of required signage at designated outdoor locations
