About The Position
The Land Surveying Intern position is designed to provide hands-on technical surveying experience through meaningful project work that supports the intern’s professional growth and career development. The internship offers exposure to variety of projects, including boundary surveys, ALTA surveys, land subdivisions, legal descriptions, and construction layout projects. Interns will work alongside experienced professionals to gain practical knowledge in project administration, survey documentation, and design support. Future internships and opportunities upon graduation may also be available. This internship provides a valuable opportunity to develop technical skills, gain real-world surveying experience, and explore potential career paths within the land surveying profession.
Requirements
- Pursuing a degree in Land Surveying or a related field.
- Familiarity with surveying principles and practices.
- Ability to operate survey instruments.
- Proficiency in data management and transfer.
- Knowledge of legal document research.
- Understanding of construction field staking.
- Familiarity with D.O.T. procedures and codes.
- Proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D software.
- Knowledge of CADD standards and templates.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with boundary surveys, ALTA surveys, land subdivisions, and legal descriptions.
- Experience with construction layout projects.
Responsibilities
- Assist in performing boundary and topographical surveys and related engineering and land surveying work.
- Accurately and legibly record survey field notes.
- Use survey related equipment/software.
- Operate survey instruments such as levels, total stations, scanners, data collectors, and GPS receivers.
- Store, retrieve, and manage field survey data and transfer data accurately between devices.
- Conduct research to collect legal documents at Courthouse, Origin Design files, City Hall and online.
- Assist in providing construction field staking.
- Become proficient in Origin Design point and line codes and have knowledge of D.O.T. procedures and codes.
- Utilize Autodesk Civil 3D software to assist with the development of survey documents including drawings, exhibits, and easement documents.
- Utilize company CADD standards and templates.
- Perform basic equipment cleaning and maintenance.
