About The Position

Civil Design, Inc. (CDI) is a multi-disciplined civil engineering firm offering civil site, structural, land surveying, and GIS services. Since its founding in 1996, our team has grown to over 150 team members with six locations. We operate in three states serving our six service lines - Infrastructure + Analytics, Site, Structures, Survey, Transportation, and Water Resources. We have office locations in Missouri – St. Louis and Jefferson City, Illinois – Collinsville and Effingham and Kentucky – Louisville and Prestonsburg. This internship would support our service lines by contributing to projects and engaging with the team and supporting our mission of developing a better tomorrow. The ideal candidate brings both educational expertise and a people-first mindset—committed to collaboration and making a meaningful difference. With over 20 interns in all six locations, we strive to enhance our program every year, making it even more valuable for our interns. Requirements

  • Be able to provide 30-40 hours per week with start time around 6-7 am
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S
  • Work in outdoor elements
  • Be a part of a team
  • Communicate clearly

Nice To Haves

  • Pursuing a degree in survey, geography or survey drafting.

Responsibilities

  • Perform boundary surveys to establish legal boundaries for properties.
  • Perform topographic surveys providing data relevant to the contours of the ground and existing features.
  • May perform construction surveys for municipal, private and roadway projects.
  • Utilize Trimble Robotic, Conventional and GPS equipment, Leica 3D Scanning equipment and survey data collection software to take measurements and collect relevant information.
  • Perform daily import of all field collected data.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed and professional field notes.
  • Perform general equipment maintenance.
  • Adhere to safety policies, procedures and requirements of CDI.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
