About The Position

SEH is currently searching for a Land Survey Technician to join our talented Geospatial Data Services team! This opportunity is open to candidates residing in the following area: Mason City, IA. This position requires an MVR records check verifying that you possess a valid driver’s license and a driving record which meets the requirements of SEH’s Driving Program. The selected candidate must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. without requiring visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Requirements

  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Must have strong communication skills and be able to work independently and as part of a survey team.
  • Ability to walk and climb over rough terrain, carry up to 50 pounds, and work outdoors for 8-12 hours in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to travel as needed for projects, team meetings, and overnight stays to support out-of-town work.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and a driving record which meets the requirements of SEH’s Driving Program.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years of field and/or office land surveying experience.
  • Experience with boundary surveys, topographic surveys, construction staking, and data collection using Total Stations and Global Positioning Systems (GPS).
  • Experience with survey drafting, computations, legal descriptions, and plan interpretation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Field experience with Trimble survey equipment.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, Trimble Business Center, and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the completion of field surveys for a variety of transportation, municipal, and land development projects.
  • Assist with data reduction, digital terrain modeling/surface creation, and preparation of survey deliverables including right-of-way plats, certified survey maps, boundary surveys, topographic surveys, and construction staking documents.
  • Provide technical assistance with easement descriptions, boundary research, and courthouse/title research to gather property ownership and survey information.
  • Support survey crews with field data collection using GPS and Total Station equipment.
