About The Position

The Land Stewardship Field Coordinator supports the 2026 summer field operations of the BCPF Parks Bank program by participating in field season planning, assisting the team with implementing field season plans, coordinating regional field crew training and activities, engaging and recruiting community stewards, managing field logistics, overseeing data entry and management, and maintaining records. This role ensures field crew members and community stewardship partners have the resources, guidance, and systems needed to carry out biodiversity monitoring, stewardship, and property management activities safely, consistently, and effectively across BCPF conservation properties in BC.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in environmental science, ecology, natural resource management, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational and logistical skills with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Capable of identifying issues and problem solving accordingly.
  • Experience with tracking systems (e.g., monday.com), MS Excel (including using formulas), and maintaining clean and accessible records.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Confident in scheduling multiple teams, managing email communications, and drafting professional correspondence and presentation materials.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with environmental fieldwork, monitoring, or biodiversity conservation projects.
  • Familiarity with using community science platforms (e.g., iNaturalist, eBIrd) to collect nature observations.
  • Valid BC Class 5 driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Experience organizing community activities and working with volunteers.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with developing and managing weekly and seasonal schedules for regional field crews and community stewardship partners. Communicate across crews to ensure alignment of priorities, timelines, and workflows.
  • Coordinate field activities to ensure safe and efficient regional field crew operations, including: Scheduling field crew activities, assessing the need for changes and implementing as required, Task tracking and progress updates, Organization and distribution of protocols, resources, and documentation, Conduct regular check-ins with field crew as part of the daily safety protocol.
  • Coordinate logistics for regional field crews, including site access, transportation, accommodation, permissions, gear, and monitoring protocols.
  • Oversee inventory, organization, and maintenance of field equipment.
  • Coordinate distribution of supplies and equipment for field crews and community stewardship partners.
  • Occasionally, support BCPF staff and field crews on site visits to conduct surveys and assist with training or operations.
  • Ensure field crew files site visit reports and uploads data after each visit.
  • Ensure consistency in data across platforms (Monday.com, EarthRanger, Landscape).
  • Support and implement standardized workflows for: Data entry and validation, File-naming conventions and file organization, Metadata tracking and documentation.
  • Conduct data cleaning and quality checks to ensure datasets are complete, accurate, and ready for analysis and long-term storage.
  • Support data analysis as needed.
  • Track and report on fieldwork outcomes and stewardship program metrics.
  • Conduct desktop research on topics relevant to conservation, stewardship, and property management. Prepare brief summaries, synthesis documents, or presentations of findings as needed.
  • Support the development and refinement of monitoring protocols and internal documentation.
  • Support the Parks Bank team with administrative and operational tasks.
