About The Position

The Senior Land Development Inspector leads and coordinates daily work activities of assigned co-workers, conferring with supervisors on assignments and priorities. This role involves reviewing and processing land development plans, performing inspections of drawings, specifications, and construction plans to ensure compliance with environmental, storm water, and pollution prevention codes. The position also provides customer service, resolves inquiries, and supervises staff on plan intake and permitting procedures. Additionally, the role involves processing various departmental documentation, including permit applications and reports, and maintaining records.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field required.
  • Two years of experience in civil engineering, site development or construction management.
  • Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.
  • Must possess and maintain Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission (GSWCC) Level 1 B Inspector Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and coordinates daily work activities of assigned co-workers.
  • Reviews and processes land development plans.
  • Performs inspection of detailed drawings, design specifications, and construction plans.
  • Ensures compliance with environmental control, storm water mitigation and pollution prevention code requirements, specifications, guidelines, and processes.
  • Oversees quality control of the permitting process.
  • Provides customer service and responds to citizen's concerns.
  • Resolves customer service desk inquiries and development issues.
  • Supervises and advises staff on plan intake and permitting procedures.
  • Processes a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations.
  • Receives and reviews various documentation, including design specifications, construction plans and code requirements.
  • Prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, and other documentation, including permit applications, design standards, intergovernmental agreements, and customer inquiries.
  • Compiles data for further processing or for use in preparation of department reports.
  • Maintains computerized and/or hardcopy records.
