About The Position

The Senior Land Development Inspector leads and coordinates daily work activities of assigned co-workers. This role involves conferring with supervisors for direction, organizing tasks, monitoring work progress, and inspecting completed work. The Senior Inspector provides technical expertise, assists with training and instructing co-workers, and contributes to supervision by reporting employee issues and providing input on performance evaluations. The position also involves reviewing and processing land development plans, ensuring compliance with environmental, storm water, and pollution prevention codes, and overseeing the quality control of the permitting process. Customer service is a key aspect, including responding to citizen concerns, resolving inquiries, and advising staff on plan intake and permitting procedures. Additionally, the role requires processing various documentation, reviewing design specifications and construction plans, and preparing reports and records.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field required.
  • Two years of experience in civil engineering, site development or construction management.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.
  • Must possess and maintain Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission (GSWCC) Level 1 B Inspector Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and coordinates daily work activities of assigned co-workers.
  • Reviews and processes land development plans.
  • Performs inspection of detailed drawings, design specifications, and construction plans.
  • Ensures compliance with environmental control, storm water mitigation and pollution prevention code requirements, specifications, guidelines, and processes.
  • Oversees quality control of the permitting process.
  • Provides customer service and responds to citizen's concerns.
  • Resolves customer service desk inquiries and development issues.
  • Supervises and advises staff on plan intake and permitting procedures.
  • Processes a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations.
  • Reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains various documentation, including design specifications, construction plans and code requirements.
  • Prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, and other documentation, including permit applications, design standards, intergovernmental agreements, and customer inquiries.
  • Compiles data for further processing or for use in preparation of department reports.
  • Maintains computerized and/or hardcopy records.
