About The Position

The Land & Cattle Operations Manager is responsible for the overall management and stewardship of Braswell Family Farms and Mighty Oak Cattle land, cattle, facilities, equipment, and agricultural operations. This position leads livestock and breeding programs, pasture and grazing management, land improvement, facility and equipment maintenance, and the employees supporting these operations. The Manager works closely with the Director of Operations to develop and execute long-term strategies that promote animal welfare, herd improvement, land stewardship, operational efficiency, and sustainable growth. Requirements

3-5 years of livestock operations experience with leadership responsibilities
Must have CDL class A or B, or able to obtain necessary license within one year of beginning employment in this role
Must meet company’s driving record requirements to operate company vehicles
Currently have WPCSOCC Animal Waste Systems Operator’s license, or obtain license within one year of beginning employment in this role
Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of farm equipment
Proficient user of computers and various computer systems
Able to work weekends when needed.
This position is on call 24 hours a day for questions and emergencies.
Ability to safely handle and shoot firearm
Efficient use of ag equipment for farm and hay operations
Ability to read and interpret complex documents such as market data, financial reports, maintenance instructions, and technical manuals.
Ability to effectively write reports and communicate via email, in-person or telephone.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to perform complex mathematical functions on spreadsheets to include writing formulas and creating pivot tables.
Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to solve complex problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Ability to resolve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
MS Office
Must have a Commercial Drivers License (Class A or B) and be able to pass DOT physical exam and DOT drug test
WPCSOCC Animal Waste Systems Operator’s license

Responsibilities

Manage all livestock and breeding operations, ensuring high standards of animal welfare, herd health, productivity, and overall care.
Develop and execute annual cattle management plans in partnership with the Owner, including grazing, breeding and calving cycles, herd genetics, livestock purchases and sales, and long-term herd improvement.
Oversee daily herd management, including feeding, monitoring food and water, calving, routine health procedures, and assisting the veterinarian with diagnosis and treatment.
Maintain accurate livestock, breeding, health, and performance records and use data to support herd management and productivity decisions.
Coordinate the transportation of livestock to markets and other locations using company vehicles and equipment as needed.
Lead pasture and grazing management to promote healthy, fertile land and support long-term cattle and land goals, including rotational grazing, forage and food plot management, hay production, and wildlife habitat improvements.
Oversee the maintenance, repair, construction, and improvement of ranch infrastructure, including fencing, ponds, roads, corrals, water systems, buildings, housing, and other facilities.
Manage grounds maintenance, landscaping, mowing, herbicide application, ranch beautification, and other land improvement activities at ranch and off-site locations.
Maintain ranch facilities and grounds in a clean, organized, sanitary, safe, and professional condition.
Support facility maintenance needs and overflow projects at off-site company locations as needed.
Supervise the intake, sorting, and processing of poultry waste and other organic feedstocks into compost.
Monitor and control composting parameters (temperature, moisture, aeration) to optimize decomposition and prevent odors or pathogens.
Manage inventory of raw materials and finished compost to maintain production cycles.
Coordinate with waste suppliers, poultry farms, and compost buyers to ensure consistent feedstock supply and product distribution.
Ensure adherence to environmental regulations, waste management laws, and safety standards for handling poultry waste.
Implement and maintain safety protocols to protect staff and the environment.
Test and document compost quality to meet end-use specifications (e.g., nutrient content, absence of contaminants).
Operate, maintain, and perform basic repairs on ranch vehicles, agricultural equipment, heavy equipment, compost equipment and other machinery, ensuring equipment remains safe and operational.
Coordinate daily agricultural operations, projects, compost and resources to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to established priorities and standards.
Operate within established budgets, monitor expenses, and support capital planning for equipment, facilities, infrastructure, and land improvements.
Supervise, lead, and provide direction to agriculture maintenance employees, including assigning work, coordinating daily activities, and monitoring performance.
Train, coach, and develop team members while maintaining high standards of safety, accountability, professionalism, and teamwork.
Identify and address operational, safety, equipment, and performance issues in a timely manner.
