The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality is the primary regulatory agency of the government of the U.S. State of Oregon responsible for protecting and enhancing the state's natural resources. The Central Services Division (CSD) assists the Agency in achieving its mission by providing central management services for the agency in accounting, budgeting, information systems, human resources, health and safety, training, policy and organizational development, purchasing, and facilities management. The division serves headquarters and 3 regional divisions, the Vehicle Inspection Program, and the Laboratory and Environmental Assessment Division. Services are provided for over 800 positions, various local and regional governments, and directly to citizens. As a LAN Administrator, you will provide advanced technical leadership for DEQ’s end-user support operations. You will be the primary point of contact for resolving complex hardware and software issues, ensuring that internal users have the tools and connectivity needed to meet the agency's mission. Your role involves the end-to-end management of workstation environments, mobile platforms, and network access, with a heavy focus on optimizing the user experience. Beyond daily troubleshooting, you will develop technical training programs and standardized documentation to empower staff, while coordinating the implementation of new technologies to ensure they are user-ready and securely integrated into the DEQ network. Requirements

  • 3 years of information systems experience, OR 1 years of information systems experience and an Associate’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.

  • Identity & Infrastructure: Proficiency in Identity and Access Management (IAM) using Microsoft Active Directory/Entra ID, including experience with group policy, file structure permissions, and enterprise service desk platforms (e.g., Jira, ServiceNow, or Ivanti).
  • Modern Workplace Tools: Demonstrated mastery of the Microsoft 365 suite (Teams, Outlook, SharePoint, and Office) with the ability to troubleshoot integration issues between cloud services and local endpoints.
  • Diplomacy & Conflict Resolution: Ability to deal diplomatically and tactfully with upset or adversarial individuals, maintaining professional composure while navigating high-pressure technical outages.
  • Adaptive Priority Management: Proven ability to manage a high-volume workload, prioritizing competing assignments and tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Analytical Initiative: Strong critical thinking skills used to exercise independent judgment and initiative; a track record of contributing to a team environment in a positive, inclusive, and solution-oriented manner.
