Nucor Steel West Virginia is seeking a Ladle Wall Technician. The role of the Ladle Wall Technician consists of, but is not limited to, safely installing, maintaining, and managing inventory of all slide gate refractories and supporting equipment. This position will require working knowledge of Melt Shop operations and liquid steel flow control. The Ladle Wall Technician will be responsible for safely operating and maintaining the ladle gate system, inspecting refractory along with repairs and service of our ladle fleet. This position will work closely with the Refractory Lead to coordinate and schedule daily tasks to meet the demands of our Melt Shop production schedule. This individual is also responsible for the continuous development of themselves and teammates working under their mentorship. Additional responsibilities include: The ability to operate mobile equipment (overhead crane and forklift), restocking consumables, torch cutting, and keeping a clean and safe work environment. Working nights, weekends, holidays, and scheduled and unscheduled overtime is required. Nucor Steel West Virginia’s greenfield project is a new state-of-the-art sheet steel mill that will produce up to 3 million tons per year once fully operational. This advanced manufacturing facility is to be located in Mason County, along the Ohio River in close proximity to both Huntington and Charleston, WV.
