I. Position Summary: Provides direct patient care in the Women’s Center Nursery. Provides assessment and planning for individualized patient care. Communicates with physicians about changes in patient’s clinical condition. Responds quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Performs general nursing duties in the Women’s Center Nursery with adequate supervision. Consults on patients who choose to breastfeed. Provides education to patients on positioning, feeding cues, frequency, and milk storage. Documents regarding exclusive breastfeeding and consult. Provides follow up calls and communication regarding breastfeeding. Participates in performance improvement activities. Ensures appropriate resources to all internal/external customers. Responsible for carrying out the mission, vision, and quality commitment of Houston Healthcare. II. Qualifications: A. Education & Training: Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. B. Experience: None. Residency or Fellowship programs may apply depending on department and experience. C. Required Certification/Registration/Licensure: Current US state RN license with authorization to practice in the state of GA. Current AHA/ARC BLS certification. NRP certification or obtained within nine (9) months of hire. Current lactation certification (IBCLC, CLC, CBE) within 9 months of hire. D. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Must be able to utilize standard office equipment. Must be able to utilize diagnostic equipment as well as patient care equipment.
