About The Position

The Lactation Consultant will provide skilled lactation care and instruction to breastfeeding mothers and infants throughout the healthcare facility, including inpatient and outpatient settings. This role promotes breastfeeding and assists with facilitating change within the clinical settings using evidence-based care management. The consultant will contact physician offices, patients, and other departments as needed to facilitate patient care. They are also responsible for ordering and restocking breastfeeding/pump supplies for the unit, accurately entering information and consults into the hospital Electronic Medical Record system, and managing CMQCC data. Additionally, the position involves educating nursing staff and helping facilitate educational classes for patients.

Requirements

IBCLC required within six (6) months of hire.
State RN license required.
Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
NRP within 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
At least one (1) year of previous experience.
Experience using computers for consultation documentation.

Responsibilities

Help facilitate educational classes for patients as well.
