About The Position

The Lactation Consultant will provide skilled lactation care and instruction to breastfeeding mothers and infants throughout the healthcare facility, including inpatient and outpatient settings. This role promotes breastfeeding and assists with facilitating change within clinical settings using evidence-based care management. The consultant will contact physician offices, patients, and other departments as needed to facilitate patient care. Responsibilities also include ordering and restocking breastfeeding/pump supplies, accurately entering information and consults into the hospital Electronic Medical Record system, managing CMQCC data, and providing education for nursing staff and facilitating educational classes for patients.

Requirements

IBCLC required within six (6) months of hire.
State RN license required.
Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
NRP within 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
At least one (1) year of previous experience.
Experience using computers for consultation documentation.

Responsibilities

Provide skilled lactation care and instruction to breastfeeding mothers and infants throughout the healthcare facility, including inpatient and outpatient settings.

Contact physician offices, patients and other departments as needed to facilitate patient care in the department.
Order breastfeeding/pump supplies for the unit and restock supplies as needed.
Accurately enter information and consults into the hospital Electronic Medical Record system.
Manage CMQCC data.
Do education for nursing staff.
Help facilitate educational classes for patients.
