About The Position

This is a day shift Lactation Consultant position at Providence St John's Health Center, in Santa Monica, CA. Multiple positions for FT and PT, based on availability (1.0 FTE and 0.6 FTE). The Lactation Consultant (LC) is supervised by the Manager of Mother-Baby Unit. The LC is responsible for the delivery of patient care through the breastfeeding assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The position serves as a lead consultant that will provide breast-feeding education and assistance to in-patients and outpatients. The consultant will also provide education to nursing staff. Requirements

Keep up to date on continuing education credits by the International Lactation Consultant Association (ILCA) to maintain IBCLC status.
National Provider BLS - American Heart Association (Upon hire).
International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) (Upon hire).
2 years of experience as an In-patient Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).
2 years of experience in an inpatient Postpartum, newborn or couplet care setting [willing to be trained to function in a Neonatal Intensive care unit (NICU) setting].

Responsibilities

Delivery of patient care through the breastfeeding assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
Serve as a lead consultant providing breast-feeding education and assistance to in-patients and outpatients.
Provide education to nursing staff to ensure consistent support is available to all patients.
