About The Position

The Lactation Consultant is a Registered Nurse who utilizes critical thinking skills to direct and evaluate patient care activities within their area of clinical expertise. This role requires the ability to lead and motivate professional and ancillary staff to enhance their breastfeeding practice, knowledge, and skill base. The consultant will also coordinate with other healthcare team members to ensure high-quality patient care and will support plans, programs, and schedules as directed by the lead lactation consultant.

Requirements

• Graduate of an RN program
• 3-5 years clinical experience
• Advanced knowledge of perinatal nursing practices, anatomy and physiology, pregnancy, labor, birth, lactation, infant care and clinical breastfeeding issues
• Able to demonstrate exceptional communication, collaboration, teamwork and flexibility
• Serves as role model for delivery of excellent patient care and customer service
• Current Certification by International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBCLC)
• Current Florida RN License
• American Heart Association: BLS
• American Heart Association: NRP

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing
