About The Position

Assessment and evaluation of the breastfeeding couplet. This includes planning, implementing and evaluating care based on this assessment. Provides and coordinates lactation assistance, education, and support to antepartum, post-partum, and neonatal patients (inclusive of adolescents and adults) through the use of the nursing process in accordance with standard nursing practice and established nursing policies and procedures. Monitoring couplet to prevent and solve breastfeeding problems and to provide an environment that effectively supports the breastfeeding families. Providing patient/staff education and support in all aspects of lactation management. Responsible for providing high quality education programs and activities that promote health of the patient and community through the life cycle, and individual development of the staff according to learning needs identified through a variety of sources to facilitate patient care.

Requirements

  • Graduate from a recognized, accredited school of nursing
  • 2 years of clinical nursing in area of specialty
  • 2 years experience in Maternal Child area
  • RN - Registered Nurse - Georgia State Licensure and/or NLC/eNCL Multistate Licensure

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree of Nursing
  • 1 year of education experience
  • IBCLC - International Board Certified Lactation Consultant
  • Has received certification as a breastfeeding counselor
