Lactation Consultant, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
About The Position
The Lactation Consultant provides breastfeeding consultations and postpartum breastfeeding follow-up, supports breastfeeding for families in the NICU, and coordinates breastfeeding statistics. The position delivers breastfeeding education to healthcare professionals and consumers and serves as a co-facilitator for breastfeeding educator groups. It maintains breastfeeding policies and teaching plans, serves as a liaison for community breastfeeding initiatives, and participates on the Pitt County Breast-feeding Advisory Council (PCBAC). The role is based within ECU Health’s James and Connie Maynard Children’s Hospital at ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville. The hospital includes a Level IV NICU and provides specialized pediatric and maternal care. A nursing degree and Registered Nurse licensure are required; International Board Certified Lactation Consultant certification is preferred.
Requirements
- Nursing degree (ADN or BSN).
- Registered Nurse licensure.
