About The Position
The Lactation Consultant provides lactation consultation and education to breastfeeding mothers at Alta Bates Medical Center, regardless of age, race, religion, ability, or economic or social status. The role requires excellent assessment and implementation skills to help breastfeeding mothers attain their individual goals.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
- California Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification.
- Certified Lactation Educator (CLE) certification.
- International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) certification within two years of employment.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Excellent maternal/infant assessment skills.
- Ability to effectively prioritize work responsibilities.
- Excellent documentation skills.
- Effective teaching skills.
- Flexibility in a changing environment.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
- A minimum of two years of experience in perinatal nursing or perinatal education.
- A minimum of two years of experience counseling breastfeeding women.
- Experience supporting breastfeeding in a NICU.
Responsibilities
