More information is available on our Benefits Guest Website: benefits.uhsguest.com Position Summary: We are seeking a compassionate, knowledgeable, and certified Lactation Consultant to support new and expectant parents in achieving their breastfeeding goals. The ideal candidate will provide expert guidance, education, and hands-on assistance to promote successful lactation and infant nutrition in inpatient settings.

Requirements

  • BSN required
  • Certification as an International Board of Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) from International Board of Lactation Consultation Examiners (IBCLE) is required.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to adapt to multiple and changing priorities

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized lactation consultations to patients in hospitals, clinics, or home settings
  • Assess and address breastfeeding challenges such as latch issues, milk supply, nipple pain, and infant weight gain
  • Educate families on breastfeeding techniques, pumping, milk storage, and feeding plans
  • Collaborate with obstetricians, pediatricians, nurses, and dietitians to ensure coordinated care
  • Document patient interactions and progress in medical records
  • Lead breastfeeding classes and support groups as needed
  • Stay current with best practices and research in lactation and maternal-child health
  • Advocate for breastfeeding-friendly policies and environments within the organization
