About The Position

Volo is a community-based organization founded in 2010, headquartered in Baltimore, Maryland, with over 350,000 users across the US. Our users leverage Volo to organize, meet, communicate, and play within their community through fitness and social activities. Volo provides real interaction, real activity, real fun, and real impact, fostering meaningful connections among people. We are a grassroots movement helping others connect and share experiences over a season. This is a part-time role, ideal for individuals who enjoy being outdoors, have a passion for sports, and are seeking supplemental income. Referees are responsible for understanding and enforcing rules and safety guidelines in a friendly, competitive environment.

Requirements

Experience refereeing
Lacrosse knowledge or willingness to learn the sport
Located in the New York Metropolitan area
Be Outgoing. You will be speaking to players.
Interest in sports and social activities
Strong attention to detail
Works well in a team atmosphere
Ability to multi-task and make decisions under pressure
Ability to lift and carry 30-50 pounds
Possess a positive, solution-oriented mindset with the ability to communicate clearly
Must be available to work Sunday evenings from 8:00PM - 11:00PM
Proficient customer service skills
High School Diploma /GED Equivalency
Access to Public Transportation

Nice To Haves

Prior referee experience a plus, but not required
Lacrosse experience and knowledge
Experience in diffusing challenging situations a plus

Responsibilities

Ensure a safe, fun, social and fair environment for all players
Understand and kindly and fairly enforce each sport’s rules
Communicate with the office regarding any equipment, rule issues, player issues, etc.
Serve as a representative for Volo on-field
Encourage and maintain a quality experience throughout the league
Other league-day preparations, such as field setup and supervision
Make players feel welcome
