About The Position

The Lacquer Spray Machine (L.S.M.) Operators are responsible for the safe and proper application of the lacquer spray coating to the inside of the can in compliance with quality control specifications. They have primary control of the processing of cans from the point of infeeding of cans into the conveying above the spray machines, until they reach the Internal Bake Ovens (I.B.O.’s).

Requirements

  • Safe and proper application of lacquer spray coating to the inside of the can in compliance with quality control specifications.
  • Primary control of processing cans from infeeding into conveyors above spray machines until they reach Internal Bake Ovens (I.B.O.’s).
  • Clear can jams from Lacquer Spray Machines (LSMs) and upper conveyors.
  • Inspect and monitor can works, overall quality of cans, Lacquer pressure of LSMs, Lacquer temperature, and copper sulfate checks on flanges.
  • Conduct and record process control checks: metal exposure of cans, weight of lacquer on inside of cans, and film weight distribution.
  • Perform routine maintenance: setting guns, nozzles, can guides, and spray delays.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance: replacing drive and conveyer belts.
  • Conduct Equipment Set-up evaluations (ESE) on LSMs after adjustment or modifications.
  • Monitor and assist other production areas for smooth can flow.
  • Follow proper material handling procedures: disposal of waste lacquer and labeling of waste barrels.
  • Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements.
  • Maintain cleanliness of machines: spray nozzles, turret wheels, lacquer overspray boxes, machine exteriors, and general work area.
