About The Position

The Labourer is accountable for groundside/airside maintenance and repairs to a safe and efficient operation of the Edmonton International Airport. The Labourer is responsible for safety and cleanliness of the groundside infrastructure also providing a high level of service for both passengers and staff. The position will ensure compliance with proper operational training, safety, efficient productivity, quality assurance and cost control. The Labourer is accountable for ensuring adherence to procedures and policies within Edmonton Airports.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25kg is required.
  • Must have a valid class 5 driver's license.
  • Ability to maintain an Airside Vehicle Operators Permit (AVOP) and restricted radio operator's license are required.
  • Proven ability to be self-motivated and accountable; demonstrating a willingness to contribute to team efforts in a positive manner.
  • Must be willing to work a shift schedule that is a 4 on, 4 off rotation (including nights and weekends); availability for overtime, standby and call back situations is required.
  • Must secure and maintain appropriate airport security clearance and acceptable criminal records check.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures as well as incident prevention, hazard assessments, incident reporting and help keep a safe work place for all staff.
  • Maintain all groundside and passenger areas in accordance to the ASQ standards. (This includes litter pick up groundside and airside, emptying and cleaning garbage cans in all areas, cleaning up cigarette butts and emptying and cleaning butt cans in all areas, pressure washing sidewalks, pedways and parkades, and cleaning up pet and other waste).
  • Ensure snow removal and ice control duties include all sidewalks, ramps, stairs, crosswalks, walkways, doorways and other public areas also including airside.
  • Operate various small equipment such as weed eaters, back pack blowers and vacuums, lawn mowers, gators, riding mowers small sweepers, chainsaws, hedge trimmers, rakes, shovels, forks, roto tillers, rollers, skid steers, tool cats, snow blowers, sanders, mad vac and trackless plow and other hand tools.
  • Ensure contractors adhere to all regulations, procedures, policies, and escort them airside.
  • Liaise with and assist mobile Maintenance department with availability/repair of equipment and vehicles.
  • Other duties as required to support the Edmonton Airports Operations.
