About The Position

The laborer is responsible for preparing and cleaning underground utility construction sites, loading and unloading materials to be used, hand digging in trenches and filling potholes, some operating of equipment and machines, and helping skilled workers with their duties. This position supports the underground utilities construction team and works with other team members within the department.

Requirements

• High School Diploma and/or equivalent.
• Valid Driver’s License
• Minimum 1 year experience in a construction laboring or physically laboring position.

Nice To Haves

• Class A CDL Driver’s License.
• 1+ year’s industry experience (i.e., underground utility construction)

Responsibilities

• Prepare the work site, including cleaning and removing debris and possible hazards.
• Assists the skilled worker, such as operator, locator, or foremen in completing their skilled tasks effectively and efficiently.
• Identify utilities and watch dig crew dig to prevent utility hits.
• Maintains every piece of equipment, such as daily maintenance of machines (oil, grease, water, etc.) and restocking trucks with supplies to ensure the crews have the proper tools and supplies to complete the job.
• Digs trenches and fills potholes.
• Wear all the appropriate safety apparel and follow all established safety practices and procedures.
• May be required to work overtime, including evening hours, weekends, and possible travel to out-of-town assignments.
