As a Laborer, you'll play an important role in supporting daily landfill operations and helping create a safe, welcoming, and efficient environment for customers, employees, and the community. Every day brings different opportunities—from operating equipment and maintaining grounds to assisting visitors and supporting facility improvement projects.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid Ohio driver's license.
  • Commitment to safety, reliability, and teamwork.
  • Enjoys hands-on outdoor work.
  • Demonstrates strong dependability and attendance.
  • Follows safety procedures and operational guidelines.
  • Can read and understand safety documents, operating manuals, and work instructions.
  • Communicates professionally and respectfully with customers and coworkers.
  • Works effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • Uses sound judgment and common sense to solve problems and complete tasks.
  • Can safely operate equipment and vehicles while maintaining attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience performing maintenance, groundskeeping, or facility upkeep.
  • Experience operating light, medium, or heavy equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Help maintain landfill grounds by mowing, trimming, landscaping, and collecting litter.
  • Support facility appearance through painting, cleaning, beautification projects, and minor repairs.
  • Build, repair, and maintain fences and erosion-control features such as silt fencing and straw bales.
  • Operate a variety of vehicles and equipment, including: Backhoes, Street sweepers, Fuel trucks, Roll-off trucks, Water trucks, Other support equipment.
  • Direct customers and haulers to appropriate disposal areas and ensure safe traffic flow throughout the facility.
  • Fuel vehicles and equipment and complete required inspection and vehicle reports.
  • Maintain facility sidewalks, roadways, restrooms, gates, wheel wash areas, and other operational spaces.
  • Assist with litter collection along assigned highways and roadways.
  • Support odor control efforts and help apply Alternate Daily Cover (ADC) when needed.
  • Partner with mechanics and maintenance staff to perform basic equipment maintenance, change tires, and retrieve parts.
  • Clean equipment tracks and wheels and help maintain a safe, organized worksite.
  • Provide professional, courteous service to both internal and external customers.
  • Respond to other operational needs and support team projects as assigned.
