The General Laborer will perform various labor-intensive tasks in an industrial setting under the direction of a supervisor or foreman. This role may involve operating a variety of hand and power tools, cleaning and preparing sites, digging trenches, erecting scaffolding, cleaning up rubble and debris, and removing waste materials. The laborer may also assist other craft workers. Specific duties include performing strenuous manual labor such as lifting 25+ lbs., bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in heat. Tasks involve shoveling bituminous concrete or other materials, assisting in patching asphalt, and excavating/filling trenches and ditches. Responsibilities also include maintaining a clean job site, material handling and storage, loading/unloading trucks, and ensuring safety procedures are followed. The role requires some knowledge of equipment, materials, supplies, first aid, and safety precautions, as well as the ability to work independently, lift heavy objects, stand/walk for long periods, and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse conditions. Effective oral and written communication, proper and safe use of equipment and tools, and the ability to follow instructions are essential. Dependable attendance and consistency are also required.
