About The Position

Responsible for performing a variety of tasks to support daily operations. This role involves physical labor, including loading and unloading vehicles, moving supplies and materials, assembling and arranging furniture and fixtures, performing minor maintenance and repairs, assisting with storm preparation and cleanup, and general housekeeping. The position works under the general supervision of a designated supervisor and requires adherence to Department of Transportation regulations for hazardous material training.

Requirements

Six months of experience performing manual labor tasks such as loading and unloading trucks, moving supplies and materials by handcart, stacking materials for storage, and collecting refuse and salvageable material.
Ability to lift and carry weights up to 100 pounds with assistance.
Ability to push and pull heavy objects such as furniture and construction materials.
Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
Must receive hazardous material (HazMat) training within 90 days of hire per Department of Transportation regulations.

Responsibilities

Loads and unloads vehicles such as vans and trucks.
Moves supplies and materials to an assigned location by handcart or pallet jack and stacks materials for storage.
Moves heavy boxes and cartons mostly by hand, hand truck, dolly, or pallet jack.
Stacks, wraps and unwraps, and stores merchandise and fixtures.
Moves, assembles, and arranges office furniture and store fixtures like shelving and tables, and may relocate these items between different locations.
Performs daily shopping cart collecting functions and minor maintenance of carts (e.g., replacement of wheels or parts).
Monitors cart collecting equipment and handicapped carts to ensure proper functioning.
Performs minor maintenance and repair functions such as changing light bulbs, minor painting, and light handyman tasks using hand and light power tools.
Performs minor vehicle maintenance functions such as adding fluids, changing wiper blades, and checking tire pressure.
Performs storm preparation duties such as placing sandbags, securing property, and laying down ice melt or sand.
Assists in after-storm clean-up by clearing snow or water from designated areas, potentially using a snow shovel, snow blower, or wet vacuum.
Assists with minor ground maintenance, including weed abatement, mowing, light pruning, and spreading mulch, using hand tools, shovels, pruners, and light power tools like string trimmers, lawn mowers, or snow blowers.
Performs general housekeeping functions and maintains areas in a clean and orderly manner.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
