About The Position

This position is responsible for providing support to carpenters and performing various labor tasks on construction sites. The role involves assisting with material handling, tool maintenance, site upkeep, and basic construction activities under the direction of experienced craftspeople.

Requirements

High school diploma
Two (2) years commercial construction experience
Ability to follow specific directions, and perform a variety of duties which may often change
Work within standards of accuracy
Repeat tasks of short duration according to a set procedure
Evaluate information using measurable standards
Physically, workers must be able to: Stand or walk for long periods; use arms and hands to reach for, handle, and manipulate objects; lift and carry materials weighing 50 to 100 pounds; climb up and down ladders, scaffolds, and other objects and carry tools and equipment; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl, and see (naturally or with correction)

Responsibilities

Provide own tools required for job functions
As directed by Carpenter, may cut pre-marked material or fixtures
Load, transport, unload and furnish Carpenter with materials, tools, equipment, and supplies
May assist in lifting, positioning, and securing of materials and work pieces during installation
May perform minor maintenance or cleaning activities of journeymans tools and equipment
Inventory material; restock supplies and materials as necessary
Demolition
Maintain housekeeping
May cover subfloor with building paper to keep out moisture
May erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground
Perform other routine duties as directed by experienced craft person
