About The Position

Brice Companies are a family of businesses providing civil construction, marine services, equipment rentals and quarry materials. We complete projects in remote locations throughout Alaska, continually performing exceptional work through the challenging conditions of these regions. As the Laborer, you will work on-site in Alaska and report to our office in Anchorage. You will perform tasks involving physical labor including operating hand/power tools of all types: small mechanical hoists, and a variety of other equipment and instruments.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent required.
  • Ability to pass a drug, driving (if applicable) and background screening.
  • Demonstrated housekeeping skills with attention to detail on environmental hazardous to reduce personal exposure and potential spreading of hazardous contaminants.
  • Ability to properly wear, use, and maintain personal respirator equipment and other forms of personal protective equipment (PPE) on HAZWOPER sites.
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
  • Ability to adapt to change in the workplace.
  • Ability to pay attention to the minute details of a project or task.
  • Ability to focus on a goal and obtain a pre-determined result.
  • Ability to identify and correct conditions that affect employee safety.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • HAZWOPER certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools including their uses, repair and maintenance and practical applications preferred.
  • OSHA 30-hour certification preferred.
  • Valid state driver’s license and must be qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of Brice Terra’s Driving Policy.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general manual labor including: cleaning and preparing sites, digging trenches, setting braces to support the sides of excavations, erecting structures, cleaning up rubble and debris.
  • Perform general manual labor to include use of hand tools and provide manual labor support for operators during excavation and backfill activities.
  • Identify any hazards as observed for safety of personnel and equipment.
  • Monitor job site for hazards and maintain a safe working environment and reduce personal exposure and potential spreading of hazardous contaminants by removing material from the job site.
  • Provide assistance to project manager, site superintendent, foreman, operator, carpenter or other laborer and support staff in the field.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
