About The Position

This position is responsible for safely performing various tasks to support daily operations at road/highway sites and construction projects. Requirements

  • Ability to wear a full body harness and work at heights while tied off.
  • Ability to work, day, swing, and night shifts (occasionally extended hours).
  • Ability to work in constant exposure to outside elements, in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to work in safety sensitive construction setting, including exposure to moving machinery and heavy equipment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team in a fast-paced and complex environment.
  • Ability to squat, crawl, and work in awkward positions/confined spaces.
  • Physical dexterity, stamina, and excellent hand-eye coordination with ability to: grasp, assemble, and lift objects, stand, sit, and walk for extended periods over uneven surfaces, squat, bend, climb ladders onto equipment or other objects, and potentially lie down.
  • Lifting, pushing, pulling of heavy items weighing up to 50 lbs. or more.
  • Comply, understand, and support corporate safety initiatives to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Ability and willingness to abide by Granite’s Code of Conduct daily.

Responsibilities

  • Remove debris and materials, perform daily jobsite housekeeping; maintain a clean, hazard-free work area; assist with subgrade preparation and basic concrete and asphalt work.
  • Shovel, rake, excavate, backfill, compact, and move materials; load and unload tools, equipment, and construction materials; dig trenches or holes as required.
  • Operate hand tools and small equipment including but not limited to shovels, picks, tampers, saws, jackhammers, drills, and compactors; perform basic inspections and maintenance of tools and equipment; may operate skiploader.
  • Perform labor tasks associated with asphalt paving including but not limited to shoveling, raking, sweeping.
  • Install and maintain barricades, fencing, screening, and other temporary structures; flag and control traffic.
  • Conduct grade checks and use basic layout/survey tools such as tape measures, levels, and lasers.
  • Assist Carpenters, Masons, Operators, and other trades.
  • Other duties as required.
