About The Position

This Regular Part-Time position is located at Youth Programs at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Fort Eustis, Virginia. RPT positions guarantee a minimum of 20 hours and may provide up to 40 hours per week. The position may require work on holidays, nights, weekends, and on-call assignments.

The laborer performs manual tasks involving the movement and handling of supplies and materials, basic grounds work, and related facility and vehicle upkeep. No previous experience or training is required. The position requires the ability to use and clean common hand tools and simple power equipment, follow oral or written instructions for tasks involving multiple steps, and meet physical demands including occasionally lifting and carrying 50 pounds or more and standing, bending, stooping, and reaching for extended periods.

Employment is contingent on meeting background, residency, physical, and other pre-employment requirements. The position is drug-testing designated and subject to random drug testing.

Requirements

• No previous experience or training is required.
• Must be able to use, control, and clean common hand tools and simple power equipment.
• Must be able to follow oral and/or written instructions involving duties with several distinct tasks or steps.
• Must be physically able to occasionally lift and carry objects weighing 50 pounds or more.
• Must be able to continuously stand, bend, stoop, and reach for long periods of time.
• Must have a current state driver's license.
• Must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical.
• Must satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) and background investigation.
• Must have resided in the U.S. or a U.S. territory for three or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start date, subject to the stated memorandum exception.
• The incumbent is subject to random drug testing.
• Must meet applicable qualification, eligibility, and background requirements.

Responsibilities

• Loads and unloads heavy boxes, bulky supplies, and materials to and from tracks, dollies, and similar equipment.
• Moves heavy boxes, cartons, and luggage by hand or using a handtruck or dolly; opens crates and boxes with crowbars, cuts bands with shears, and stacks boxes and cartons as directed.
• Digs ditches and trenches with a shovel where a pick is unnecessary and grading or sloping is not required; fills holes and levels bumps and low places using a shovel, hand tamper, and rake.
• Operates hand lawnmowers or domestic-type powered lawnmowers when doing so does not require heavy physical effort, and clears small trees and bushes with a handsaw, hatchet, or clipper.
• Moves and arranges furniture as directed.
• Shovels snow from sidewalks.
• Washes and waxes cars and trucks by hand or with a power buffer.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
