Performs various tasks in a landfill including containing loose refuse to prevent scattering and directing traffic at the landfill. The value of a WM job is more than a paycheck. Requirements

Licenses as required by Local, State, Federal, Environmental and/or Health/Safety Regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities

Manually picks up windblown paper from the periphery of the landfill, depositing refuse in a large plastic trash bag.
Uses a mobile vacuum to gather loose paper and refuse, driving a tractor along the fenced border of the landfill and adjacent land.
Directs traffic at the landfill entrance during peak summer months, communicating with drivers verbally or by hand signals.
Lifts construction materials such as lumber and bags of concrete mix, and uses hand tools like shovels, picks, axes, and chain saws for site maintenance.
Manually separates metal, white goods, lumber, and cardboard from trash on the tipping floor at landfills with a transfer station.
