Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Ability to perform basic math
• Able to withstand prolonged periods standing and working outside
• Physically able to perform assigned tasks
• Must be able to lift 40 pounds at a time
• Ability to follow instructions from supervisors, foremen, and carpenters
• Knowledge of carpentry and construction techniques and procedures

Responsibilities

• Assists carpenters by holding and securing lumber used in build process; ensures lumber is level or plumb during installation
• Assists with building forms for pouring concrete
• Prepares work area by transporting needed tools and equipment from storage facility
• Loads and unloads building materials to be used on construction projects
• Builds and disassembles scaffolding, bracing, and other temporary structures used on construction sites
• Removes debris and possible hazards to keep construction sites clean and safe
• Digs trenches and holes needed in construction projects
• Keep machines serviced
