About The Position

A landfill Laborer I performs a variety of semi-skilled and unskilled work associated with maintaining the Salt River Landfill, under the supervision of the Operations Supervisor or Landfill Operations Manager.

Requirements

• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Lift moderately heavy objects
• Required and predictable attendance
• Work extended hours at times
• Work schedules including overtime, holidays, On-Call, and weekends as needed.
• Good physical condition and stamina to perform tasks that may require lifting, bending, and prolonged standing or walking.
• Knowledge of basic Landfill safety procedures.
• Ability to operate and communicate over a two-way radio.
• Adhere to all safety protocols, wear required personal protective equipment and follow traffic control procedures at the landfill.
• Must be able to pass pre-employment and random drug screening tests.
• Graduation from high school or GED equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of general grounds keeping activities, including picking up trash and brush, and setting up barricades and portable fencing for work areas.
• Direct traffic to appropriate parking and dumping locations and inspects loads ensuring that inappropriate material does not come into the landfill.
• Perform a variety of building maintenance and repair tasks, including cleaning, changing light bulbs, and setting up tables and chairs for special events.
• Wash landfill equipment as needed.
• Miscellaneous jobs and duties as requested.
