About The Position

This position is utilized to address critical preparedness needs, including increased initial attack capability and mobilization readiness for the efficient suppression and prevention of wildfires, as well as hazard fuels mitigation projects. Requirements

  • Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Job offer to new hires is conditional upon verification of credentials, criminal records and driver’s license check.
  • Three references must be provided and made available at the interview to include at least one work-related reference.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, inventory, maintain and service wildfire equipment for fire readiness.
  • Drive heavy equipment to the fire scene.
  • Operate equipment on wildfires.
  • Assist with Helitack operations.
  • Provide wildland fire suppression support within Maine, on federal and NFFPC incidents.
  • Be responsible for ensuring that facilities, equipment and supplies are fire- ready when needed.
  • Provide general cleaning of facilities, plowing snow, mowing lawns, minor repairs to buildings.
