About The Position

VTG is seeking a Laborer/Helper to work in various shipyards across the Hampton Roads area. This role involves performing general manual labor tasks, relying on instructions and pre-established guidelines. The primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment and the position typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The tasks require mainly physical abilities and effort involving little or no specialized skill or prior work experience.

Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Valid driver's license.
Must be a US Citizen.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Must be able to travel as required.

Nice To Haves

One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Active Secret clearance preferred; or must be able to obtain and maintain a secret level clearance.

Responsibilities

Performs general manual labor tasks including loading, unloading, lifting, and moving materials.
Loads and unloads trucks.
Moves supplies and materials to proper location.
Stacks materials for storage.
Collects refuse and salvageable materials.
Cleans culverts and ditches.
Cuts trees and brush.
Moves heavy pieces of machinery and equipment.
Assists in installation of communications hardware.
Performs minor equipment repairs as directed.
