About The Position

Headquartered in Houston, Texas, Webber undertakes projects across the United States and Canada, utilizing various project models including design bid build, design build, alternative delivery, and P3 solutions. The company also features an in-house engineering services department. This Laborer Common position is an entry-level role, assisting the Foreman and skilled craft workers under close supervision, serving as a first step to learning a skill within the heavy civil construction sector.

Requirements

  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures.
  • Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Knowledgeable about and follow the company’s safety policies and procedures as described in the company’s safety manual.
  • Heavy physical activity performing strenuous day activities of a primarily productive/technical nature.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers.
  • Ability to perceive attributes of objects and materials.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States of America.
  • Ability to complete and pass a drug screen.
  • Ability to complete and pass a medical exam to ensure physical and/or mental capacity to complete the tasks required by the job (for field positions).
  • Ability to pass a background check (if required for the position).

  • Three or more years related construction experience.

Responsibilities

  • Digging, spreading and leveling dirt, sand and gravel using a pick, shovel or rake.
  • Lift, carry and hold construction materials, tools and supplies.
  • Clean tools, equipment, materials and work area.
  • Mix, pour and spread concrete, asphalt, gravel and other materials using hand tools.
  • Join, wrap and seal sections of pipe.
  • Perform a variety of routine non-machine tasks such as removing forms, filling excavations, placing pipe sections in trench and assembling sections of pipe.
  • Perform a variety of machine tasks such as tapping soil, jack hammering and assisting in the fusing of pipe.
