About The Position

This role involves performing labor tasks assigned by the Crew Leader/Foreman and assisting the driver with various aspects of truck operations, including pre-trip inspections, safe loading and unloading, backing, and parking. The position requires readiness to work in uniform at the job site or office, implementing assigned tasks with a positive attitude, and ensuring safe, legal, and proper handling of trucks. The individual will cooperate with crew members for efficient and safe completion of assignments, ensuring work meets company standards. Proper use of tools and equipment as trained is essential, and asking questions when unsure is encouraged.

Requirements

  • No prior experience required.
  • Speak English or willingness to learn.
  • Operate equipment and tools safely, wearing required personal protective equipment.
  • Assist driver with Truck Pre-Trip Inspection and safety checks.
  • Ensure truck bed is empty during machine loading.
  • Secure all tools and materials on trucks properly.
  • Position loads correctly in the truck bed (centered & 2/3 forward).
  • Tie down heavy equipment on trucks/trailers (e.g., mowers, trenchers, tractors).
  • Use DOUBLE wheel chocks when handling palletized materials.
  • Spot the driver when backing up using hand signals and flags.
  • Use traffic flags to stop traffic during truck maneuvers.
  • Set wheel chocks when the truck is parked.
  • Set out orange safety cones to denote the work area.
  • Report maintenance and repair needs to the foreman.
  • Direct clients to discuss issues with Foreman/Crew Leader.
  • Report damaged, broken, or missing equipment, tools, or supplies.
  • Inspect, clean, and secure vehicles, trailers, equipment, and tools at day’s end.
  • Dismiss crew members upon completion of daily work.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual candidates are a plus.
  • Stable work history.
  • 6 months industry experience preferred.
