About The Position

The Autzen Complex Laborer 1 position performs general, routine labor tasks at all Athletic Department facilities, primarily at the Autzen complex (Casanova, Moshofsky, Pape, PK Park, Autzen and surrounding grounds/sidewalks/parking lots), but may assist in other athletic facilities as needed. This position involves general labor, grounds maintenance, facility maintenance, event set up and tear down, and custodial tasks, focusing on maintaining a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment across all athletic facilities, playing fields, practice fields, grounds, landscaped areas, parking lots, plazas, and sidewalks. Specific duties include grounds maintenance such as pressure washing, weed eating, weeding blowing, edging, and mowing, as well as maintaining clean building exteriors by de-cobbing, weeding, and emptying trash. The role also includes conducting minor facility repairs and assisting with medium facility repairs, and may involve assisting with shipping and receiving. Additionally, this position is responsible for various event and practice set-ups throughout the Autzen Complex, working as a Facilities event team member for practices, competitions (soccer, softball, baseball, lacrosse, football, etc.), and special events sponsored by outside groups/agencies. This support effort involves routine labor tasks associated with pre-event, event, and post-event activities. General custodial duties throughout the Athletic Complex, both inside and outside facilities, are also required.

Requirements

  • One year of documented experience with general routine labor in an organization's work unit doing similar work.
  • Computer skills: Ability to communicate with email both sending and receiving.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with faculty, staff, and students with a variety of diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to effectively work in a team environment.
  • Ability to learn and implement common safety practices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and orally.
  • Ability to operate and respond to 2-way radio communication.
  • A valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • More than one year of documented years working in Grounds Maintenance.
  • More than one year of documented years working in Facility Maintenance.
  • More than one year of documented years working in Janitorial Maintenance.
  • Experience setting up, working and tearing down events on a large or small scale.
  • Experience operating a forklift, pallet jacks, scissor lifts, or boom lifts.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general, routine labor tasks at all Athletic Department facilities, primarily at the Autzen complex.
  • Perform general labor, grounds maintenance, facility maintenance, event set up and tear down, and custodial tasks.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, well maintained environment at all athletic facilities, athletic playing fields, practice fields, grounds, landscaped areas, parking lots, plazas, and sidewalks.
  • Perform grounds maintenance around the facilities, including pressure washing, weed eating, weeding blowing, edging, mowing.
  • Assist with maintaining clean building exteriors, including de cobbing, weeding, emptying trash from rolling dumpsters and cans.
  • Conduct minor facility repairs and assist others with medium facility repairs.
  • Assist with shipping and receiving as needed.
  • Responsible for various event and practice set-ups throughout the Autzen Complex.
  • Work as a Facilities event team member for practice, competition, and other activities taking place in/at Athletic Department properties.
  • Perform routine labor tasks associated with pre-event, event, and post-event tasks specific to each event/activity.
  • Perform general custodial duties throughout the Athletic Complex inside and outside our Athletic Facilities.
  • Obtain UO Driver's Certification to drive University vehicles.
  • Obtain UO Forklift Certification within 90 days of employment.
  • Work a flex/irregular work schedule and as a member of the Essential Services Team.
