Performs accurate and timely processing, testing, and resulting. Provides preventive maintenance, quality control, and customer service. This role involves performing routine and complex technical procedures and functions within the laboratory information system, which may include phlebotomy, specimen collection, processing, reporting, and storage. The technologist is responsible for preventive maintenance, supply upkeep, and quality control, ensuring appropriate documentation, coordination, and communication. They must demonstrate knowledge of and uphold applicable laws and regulations, maintaining expertise in techniques, procedures, and protocols across the lab and within their specific section. The position requires reviewing and acknowledging procedures as necessary. A key aspect is delivering service excellence, fostering One Team collaboration, and providing quality patient care by adapting communication styles to various cultural differences, addressing concerns through problem research and resolution, utilizing basic troubleshooting skills, and efficiently managing interruptions and changing environments. Maintaining a safe environment is crucial, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, reporting spills and hazardous situations immediately, and acting appropriately. The technologist must follow established guidelines for patient information disclosure and assist in departmental process development and improvement, participating in quality assurance, continuing education programs, department meetings, and special projects. They are expected to provide useful feedback for individual improvement and assist with the training and competency development of employees, students, fellows, and rotators.
