About The Position

Performs phases of laboratory testing, as assigned. This role involves collecting and processing biological specimens, performing routine analytical tests, monitoring quality control, and performing equipment maintenance. The technologist will also support laboratory goals through teamwork, service excellence, and adherence to guidelines. Additionally, this position involves working with medical laboratory science students and requires independent judgment within established policies and protocols. The role is considered safety-sensitive under the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Use and Patient Protection Act.

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Medical Technology or in a related biological/chemical science from an accredited college or university.
  • 0 - 6 months related experience in clinical laboratory.
  • PC skills needed for efficient computer utilization.
  • Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to organize work in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Ability to be detail oriented in the examination of clinical and numerical data.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and process biological specimens and other substances.
  • Performs and reports routine analytical tests under direction of medical technologist, recognizing factors that affect procedures and results, and taking appropriate actions within predetermined limits when corrections are indicated.
  • Perform and monitor quality control within predetermined limits.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of equipment under direction of medical technologist.
  • Supports laboratory goals by demonstrating teamwork, service excellence, adhering to established guidelines and policies.
  • Looks for ways to improve processes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Works with medical laboratory science students during educational laboratory activities.
