About The Position

The Laboratory Technologist will work in but not limited to Cytogenetics, Genetics or Infectious Disease (ID): Clinical laboratory to perform clinical laboratory testing, including manual and automated methods, in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures. Responsible for pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases of testing. Ensures all medical laboratory safety standards and quality requirements are met. Serves as a laboratory resource to other health care personnel. Must utilize critical and independent judgment in decision-making and problem-solving. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology or other related field that includes 30 combined semester hours of biological science and chemistry required.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated lab experience, including but not limited to college laboratory experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performing complex testing in the Special Chemistry department using mass spectrometry instrumentation for Laboratory Developed Tests (LDTs).
  • Quality control monitoring.
  • Instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Calibration.
  • Documentation.
  • Compliance with laboratory quality and regulatory standards.
  • Provide technical and other supporting assistance in the laboratories as assigned.
  • Perform clinical laboratory testing, including manual and automated methods, in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures.
