Requirements

Possess a High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Ideally, have experience setting up, running, and reading lab tests, and operating laboratory equipment (microscopes, pipetting and / or clinical diagnostic analyzers).
Have a positive attitude and love to bring that energy into the lab every day to support your colleagues.

Able to meet the physical requirements that go with working in a lab – standing and sitting for extended periods of time, phone & computer use, extended reach, lifting up to 50lb, and specific vision ability – close, color, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Potential exposure to biohazards, agents known to cause zoonotic diseases, and hazardous chemicals.
Reliable and dependable attendance is an essential function of the position.

Nice To Haves

A 2-, 3- or 4-year degree in a Science-related field is preferred.
Experience as a Veterinary Technician (RVT, LVT, CVT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT or MT).
Certification by the Association des techniciens en santé animale du Québec (ATSAQ) or by another Canadian veterinary regulatory body.
Certification by the Ordre professionnel des technologistes médicaux du Québec (OPTMQ) or by another Canadian clinical medical laboratory regulatory body.

Responsibilities

Use automated analyzers, microscopes and other laboratory diagnostic tools to perform analyses and tests that diagnose animal illnesses, injuries and diseases in support of veterinarian animal treatment.
Perform diagnostic tests on blood, urine, fecal or pet biopsy samples that we receive in our lab by the thousands, every day.
Set up and run lab tests, then read and release results according to SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
Specialize in an assigned department (Hematology, Chemistry/Endocrinology, Urinalysis, Cytology, or Immunology/Serology).
