About The Position

The Product Solutions department at Imperial has a long history in Canada and a large workforce. This role is assigned to the Sarnia Quality Assurance Laboratory, which operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with rotating shifts. Depending on the specific area, responsibilities may include qualifying and releasing manufactured products, supporting product development through testing analysis, supporting refinery operations across Canada, or providing technical guidance to Imperial Oil marketing organizations and industrial customers.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Studying in Chemical or Environmental Technologist program or Equivalent
  • Equivalent (i.e. bachelor degree in relevant science/engineering field), and/or having a diploma in a chemical/environmental field which includes a practical laboratory component.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant manufacturing laboratory experience. Preference will be given to applicants with direct industry laboratory experience
  • Familiarity with statistical control practices
  • Strong commitment to safety on and off the job
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication with the ability to work in a team environment
  • Sound reasoning ability with a high level of self-initiative and a desire to learn
  • Knowledge and skills with computer applications -- MS Office
  • Valid driver license

Responsibilities

  • Conduct laboratory testing in accordance with Imperial and Exxon quality standards
  • Participate in field testing and tank and vessel sampling
  • Manage specific areas of own work/projects
  • Work to complete required Laboratory progression
  • Provide computer analysis and interpretation of data in support of operations
  • Document /communicate results
